Poorly written and fact checked

I highly recommend passing on this book. While it is very up to date, unfortunately there is a lot of information that is useless of just wrong. The information is presented in a very unprofessional manner such as spending a page talking about how the author enjoys a specific channel on Twitch. The content is easy to read, but that is because it is very informal.
You will likely come across a few names of key people and inventions that changed the communications world, but for the most part you will find nothing of value.

Current knowledge of the hormonal regulation of plant development is grouped so that the three volumes consider advancing levels of organizational complexity, viz: molecular and subcellular; cells, tissues, organs, and the plant as an organized whole; and the plant in relation to its environment. The present volume treats the molecular and subcellular aspects of hormones and the processes they regulate. Although it deals with chemically distinct classes of hormone, this volume stresses properties and modes of studying them, that are common to all classes.

An open treatment of the Old Testament

Every now and again a book comes along which opens the doors of understanding to very complex subjects - and this one is an exemplar of that. The open approach and format, free from ideology, brings the complex and confusing opus of the OT to life. Taking a non-partisan but not secular or irreligious approach - this philosophical and scholarly work reflects the modern mind of young and mature adults with a 21st century outlook on ancient wisdom and religious literature. It's the only book I have read on this subject which properly puts in perspective the cultural, historical and religious perspectives of an ancient middle eastern people who came to be known as the Israelites. It's an "Idiots Guide" or "OT for Dummies" book raised to the professional level. Fabulous piece of work.

Greg Little's Rise Above--an excellent read

Dr. Greg Little has recreated the lost world (for many of us)of junior and senior high. Then he carries straight through to adulthood in a smooth transition. Read his book and discover his secrets for surviving the jungle called "life." This is a compassionate book of struggle and the overcoming of terrible adversity. A truly great read.

Greg Little's RISE ABOVE Is Something All Of Us Can Strive For

Author Greg Little has revealed his own life experiences in RISE ABOVE (Conquering Adversities) as a way of showcasing how all of us can overcome that which might keep us from our own personal greatness--and I'm glad that he did. In this one book we see how he is able to deal with challenges in his life and even the loss of a child and not give up on living and discovering what his purpose is.

When you look at what he has been through, it would have been easy for some to just give up and give in to the troubles we faced. Little forged ahead, at times using what might have stopped him as motivation to keep pushing forward. What a great example for all of us! No matter how dire situations might seem, there is always a way out if we don't give up. For Little he saw that his moving forward was not just good for him but inspired others along the way.

The lesson? We never know how what we do and the way we handle situations will encourage others in their own lives. For this reason alone RISE ABOVE should be a book that you read and appreciate, understanding how quickly any of our circumstances can change.

Having known Greg since 1976, I have learned much more about him in reading Rise Above: Conquering Adversities. Greg has devoted many years providing positive counseling and group activities designed to help each member support and help the whole, resulting in each participate gaining strength from all within a group, even if for only one seminar. His book helps readers better understand adversities of others that in turn, helps all readers face their own. Readers will be justly rewarded by reading Rise Above and may well learn more about themselves.

Great Book -- helped me pass the test.

The PMP Test is an experience in itself. It requires hours of studying and memorizing all the terms, processes, process groups, inputs, tools & techniques, outputs, knowledge areas, and Earned Value Management formulas. This book interprets the PMBOK language into understandable english. It also follows the PMBOK, chapter by chapter, section by section, so it's easy to read the PMBOK and then the book to see what the PMBOK is really trying to say. This was the only textbook I used for studying for the exam. What else can I say, but "I PASSED"!

Great Read and NOT Boring

Very helpful and insighful book. The explanations to the answers to the questions were really helpful. Also, the practice exams on the CD were a big help. Another part of the book that helps is the e-book. However, you can't print out the e-book unless you download .pdf software that will get rid of the non-printing restriction. A bit selfich, is you ask me. But I guess it's a good way to prevent people from reselling the content as a .pdf file.

Excellent Book!

I purchased this book in May of 2007 to prepare for my CAPM exam in August. I am happy to say that I passed the exam on my first try as a result of using this book. The practice exams are an excellent resource to prepare you to pass the CAPM. I plan on using this book when I sit for my PMP next year!

I ordered the book and waited a month for it. Never received the book! I got an e-mail from the seller about a week after my purchase telling me that if I have any problems with the purchase I should not contact Amazon.com. This seemed sketchy to me, no wonder why I didn't get the book. Refund took forever to go through.

About the Author
Philip Conrod has authored, co-authored and edited over two dozen computer programming books and tutorials over the past 30 years. Philip started programming in 1977 on a Commodore PET computer at the very young age of 13. Philip holds a Certificate in Computer Programming for Business from WarrenTech, a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems and a Master's certificate in the Essentials of Business Development from Regis University. Philip has held Information Technology leadership roles in companies like Sundstrand Aerospace, Safeco Insurance, FamilyLife, Kenworth Truck Company, and PACCAR Inc. Today, Philip serves as the Chief Information Officer for large manufacturing company based in Seattle, Washington. In his spare time, Philip still enjoys writing and publishing computer programming books for students and he serves as the President of Kidware Software. Kidware Software LLC publishes computer programming books and tutorials under the trade names of KIDware, Kidware Software, BibleByte Books and ComputerScienceForKids.com.
Lou Tylee holds BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Electrical Engineering.  Lou has been programming computers since 1969 when he took his first Fortran course in college.  He has written software to control suspensions for high speed ground vehicles, monitor nuclear power plants, lower noise levels in commercial jetliners, compute takeoff speeds for jetliners, locate and identify air and ground traffic and to let kids count bunnies, learn how to spell and do math problems. He has written several on-line texts teaching Visual Basic, Visual C# and Java to thousands of people.  He taught a beginning Visual Basic course for over 15 years at a major university.    Currently, Lou works as an engineer at a major Seattle aerospace firm.   Lou and his family live in Seattle, Washington.

Best book I ever bought on the subject!

As someone who has always struggled trying to use Visual Basic with databases - this book is my savior! I LOVE the fact that it gives COMPLETE code examples for both Access and Sequel Server. I am also trying to learn how to build good databases and am currently using Access 2013 as my tool, so the Access examples are a huge plus for me. I did hit one small snag though. I am saving my Access databases in ".accdb" format. This required 2 small steps to use this file format: Downloading the small Access database engine, and using "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" as the Provider in the connection string. That info is not given in the section on connection strings. However, the correct info is given to use the .mdb file format.

Visual Studio Data Wizard? Never again! The book gives you a quick walk through using the wizard but doesn't use it in the book. You will never learn how to program with databases, strictly relying on the wizard to do the work for you. This is where I went completely wrong - looking for the easy way. Fortunately, the authors explain everything you need to know to do the coding yourself - and everything is explained at a level that is extremely easy to understand.

Queries, reporting, database management, design, distribution, and more - it's ALL there!

So, as a beginner programmer who could never grasp the fundamentals to actually writing the code for database programming, I can honestly say that, for me, this book was worth every penny!

Buy this book from the author's site, not Amazon.

Do not purchase this book from amazon.com. The purchase on Amazon only includes the printed version of the text. If you purchase it from the author’s website, you get the printed version and the e-book for the same price or the e-book alone at a reduced price.

You will need the e-book of this text because it has no index. Searching this text without the e-book is difficult, unproductive, and time consuming.

The book’s size is increased substantially by providing examples for both SQL Server and Access databases. The title of the book states that this is the Professional Edition. From a professional perspective, very few database projects include Access for essential business database applications and there is little to be gained by including Access. Professional developers will either use Oracle or SQL Server but if you’re programming in VB or C# you are most likely interested in SQL Server.

The content of the book is very good. It starts with the basics and graduates in small and clear but functional increments. It makes database programming much easier to teach and learn.

I have also purchase Mr. Conrod's, "Learn Visual Basic - Professional Edition". It too is an excellent book.

The author is also very responsive. He has responded to questions within a couple of hours.

I am recommending Mr. Conrod's VB and C# books to our faculty for consideration in our computer science curriculum. They are much better and far less expensive than our current books.

Leaves Some Questions Unanswered

Pretty good book, but it seemed to lack some detail/understanding that I really wanted as a senior/1st year graduate class in electrical engineering. I felt like I would search for answers to specific questions, just to have to go elsewhere to find it. However, I have been told, multiple times, that it is one of the best out there, so keep that in mind.

New, different and way too cute!

I crochet amigurumi critters constantly and am always on the outlook for something different. These fit the bill. With so many to choose from it was hard to know where to start....but in less than a week I have already made four covers. I need more bathrooms! The book is well laid out and the patterns clearly written. A little adjusting on size was needed, but that is to be expected as we all use different yarns, hooks etc. Mine has all turned out well. The monkey is way too adorable. This books is a great value for the money.

Amigurumi toilet paper covers

I absolutely adore this book. I have been crocheting for a few years and still find simple stitches fun. If you are new to crochet this is the perfect book for you! Even if you are experienced, Lisa Wright gives a new use and look to simple stitches. Definitely my new favorite crochet book!

THIS ISNT JUST PATTERNS TO HIDE TOILET PAPER!!!

Great, easy patterns! I made the birthday cake 'holder' for one of my granddaughters... inside the roll, I put money! Everyone loved it!!!! I don't think the patterns only have be a toilet paper cover lol... it's a great gift card or present holder thAt can be stuffed and used for cute gifts...like the cupcake or octopus, for example...this is a very useful book and, BTW, can also hide a roll of toilet paper :)
