Great Customer Service

I needed this book for my pathophysiology class. I have been reading it throughout the semester without a problem. Now, as I near finals week, I turn the page - Chp 45, p.1146 - and the next page is Chap 39, p. 1003. After page 1018, the book returns to Chp 46, p. 1163. I am missing 15 pages of text that is mandatory reading. It is of course past a return date, but surely other textbooks had this error. I am going to try and contact the book's publisher.

UPDATE: Contacted the publisher and they sent me a new book free-of-charge without any hassles. THANK YOU to Amazon and Wolters Kluwer Customer Service.

The worst part of my week is muddling through these chapters.

Using this in my RN-BSN course. I have to say I had no issue with my ADN pathophys course, plus I am already an RN so I did not expect to be so confused by this book. Concepts are explained poorly, and leave out important details. I am a visual person, I love pictures and illustrations. If that is you, you will be disappointed. There are very few illustrations, and the ones featured lack things that I feel should be included. I tend to prefer Google to complete my homework, rather than dig through this book.

I bought this book as a requirement for an Advanced Pathophysiology course. It's not very well written, I used better books in my undergrad class. If you're looking for a good reference book, this is not the one to turn to. Doesn't explain larger concepts and uses terms without explaining what they mean. I'm disappointed in this book.

Boer's study shows that Dutch strategy grew out of a carefully-devised plan of defense, and that the battle for Java comprised not one (the Battle of the Java Sea) but four major engagements. However, Japanese commanders at various levels consciously took steps that exposed their forces to great risk but succeeded in putting the Allies under great pressure. In the end the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army (KNIL) and the allied forces capitulated on 8 March 1942.

Superb!

Simply a superb work, thoroughly researched, with 500+ pages (the rest devoted to notes, bibliography, index), to give coverage to a mere 3 weeks, the last in the defense of the NEI.

Makes you hope that it will become a groundbreaker, so that other non-english writers begin to translate their work. NEI bibliography, to mention but one example, is very deep and thorough, but almost exclusively written in Dutch.

Excellent book but very poorly edited.

I purchased 40 of these books and I am using them with parent groups. The information is excellent, and parents are very enthusiastic. Unfortunately, I am embarrassed about the editing/proofreading. MANY pages seem to be missing words, sentences, and even paragraphs at the end, so that when you go on to the next page it is clear that information has been omitted. I find myself repeatedly apologizing for the missing information.

As a parent educator and preschool teacher I would love to be able to recommend this book to other professionals who work with parents and children, but with the current lack of editing I am unable to do so. Too bad--the information really is excellent and timely.

FINALLY, a developmentally appropriate guide for families wanting to make sure their child will be ready for kindergarten!

I love Deborah's blog, Teach Preschool, so I was thrilled to see what she had to say in her book. As an early childhood teacher myself, I know many families want to make sure their child is ready for kindergarten, but often have expectations that are BEYOND what is developmentally appropriate. Deborah beautifully shares skills a child can be working on prior to that first day of kindergarten and gives the family very practical ways to practice them. She covers the items most people would expect to be listed, but includes many that parents might not think of, like: taking jackets on and off, how to open all the items in their lunch box, sportsmanship, respecting others, knowing about any allergies they may have, and so much more. I'm going to recommend this book to all of the pre-kindergarten families in my program and feel that it would also be an asset to early childhood educators. Many times parents ask the teacher for ideas to practice the skills needed and Deborah's book is a plethora of practical, inexpensive ideas. What an amazing resource!!

As a pre-k teacher of more than 20 years I wish this book was mandatory reading for every single parent. I have spent countless hours in one-on-one parent conferences explaining everything that Deborah has so expertly and effortlessly compiled into this helpful resource. Every preschool teacher should have a copy of this book on hand to loan to parents- or rather schools should purchase the copies and give them to teachers to loan out. Ready for Kindergarten offers proven techniques and strategies that will help you (the parent) ensure your child is well prepared for the first day of school and beyond.

I am an experienced soap maker. It is my profession. I love the beauty of this book and I used the concepts from it in my early days of learning to make soap. There are some lovely recipes, but they are not balanced for conditioning so they need to be tweaked through a soap calculator. It is not a book for the inexperienced soap maker, however, there is a wealth of information for the novice to learn in terms of setting up your equipment, safety, essential oil profiles and combinations. In order to know what a good soap recipe is you must learn the properties of the foundation oils used to produce soap in general. Purchase this book with this knowledge, it's sexy with photography and concept, but lacking in quality of recipes, but this can be worked through by recalculation and addition of ingredients. Lastly, I don't understanding why the price is so high, even for a used book.

He has extensive experience in academic and industrial R&D of real-time computer networking and processing, media technology and optics, with research interests including holography and augmented reality.

Oliver Bimber is the head of the Institute of Computer Graphics at Johannes Kepler University Linz. His research interests include visual computing, real-time rendering and visualization, computer vision, image analysis and processing, optics, and human visual perception in next-generation display and imaging technologies.
