Meet the frontier bad men—like Leo Carver—a man so hated that everyone in the town of Canyon Gap planned to turn up for his hanging. Then meet those who dared to challenge them—like Marshal Lou Morgan, who tried to save his citizens from a goldmine swindler, only to learn that his own code of honesty made him the biggest sucker in town. There's champion rodeo rider Marty Mahan, called a coward because he was afraid of the bronc Ghost Maker—until he showed them the true color of his courage. Here are classic tales of the West from the storyteller who brings to vivid life the brave men of women who settled the North American frontier.

Great collection of 8 stories by Louis L'Amour
By G. M. C.
This is a great book of eight stories by Louis L'Amour: The Outlaws of Mesquite, Love and the Cactus Kid, The Ghost Maker, The Drift, No Rest For the Wicked, That Packsaddle Affair, Showdown on the Tumbling T, and The Sixth Shotgun.
Sure worth the money to get these stories in one big hardback edition. I really enjoyed every one of them. All of these are available on Bantam audio recording cassette tapes. There are nice drawings before each story and the paper is almost linen like. This is a nice book all the way around.

A collection of great stories by Louis L'Amour
By Douglas G. Thomas
This is another of L'Amour's works, in which he has collected a set of short stories under a single title.

Like all his writing, these are great stories, and each one could easily form the basis for a complete book in its own right.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who really likes this author, and the shorter length of each piece means one can set the book aside without wondering what happens next in the story - easy to read in short sessions but highly enjoyable.

All lovers of fine Western fiction should enjoy this book.

The Outlaws of Mesquite
By Railsplitter
Sorry folks. but although I read everything L'Amour has written with enjoyment, I am not particularly fond of his Short Story "Fill in" attempts to keep the ball rolling. As each of us have periods where /when our thought patterns do not function normally, I believe the Short Story's are holdovers from his periods of doing the Hopalong Cassidy series, and some of the add in Short Stories, especially those related to Boxing, seem more like something Micky Spellan or Shell Schot would have dreamed up. Just my opinion, and I realize not all wear the same size shoes. One of my favorite;s in his written word is "The Walking Drum", for it took me to places I have never been, and to some I had never even heard of, but three other of his fan's found it boring,
